The Workplace AI Maturity Model

Four levels. Most of the market is on the second.

A framework you can locate yourself on, and a test for the next vendor briefing: what level are you, and what is your evidence?

  1. Level 01

    Reporting

AI describes what happened. Dashboards, badge data, utilization charts.

    The test
Can it tell you Tuesday was busy? Yes. Can it tell you what to do about it? No.
    Who is here
Analytics modules and utilization reporting tools.
  2. Level 02

    Copilot

AI answers questions in natural language. Chat over your workplace data, drafted comms.

    The test
A chatbot next to a floor plan has not left Level 2, whatever the homepage calls it.
    Who is here
Most vendors marketing AI or agents in workplace today.
  3. Level 03Kadence is here

    Decision

AI solves the problem and executes the change. A stack plan, a neighborhood allocation, a move list, written back into the system that runs the building.

    The test
Can you take its output to your CFO, defend it line by line, and have the building change on Monday?
    Who is here
    Kadence.
  4. Level 04

    Autonomous

AI runs the portfolio continuously, within policy. Standing objectives instead of tickets.

    The test
Would you let it sign a lease decision unattended? If the answer is no, it is not Level 4.
    Who is here
Nobody. We are not claiming it.

For your next vendor briefing

Four questions that find the level.

Ask every vendor the same questions. The answers place them on the model faster than any demo script.

  1. 01

Show me a decision your AI made last month, and the change it wrote back.

  2. 02

What does it do when the answer needs a move, not a message?

  3. 03

Can finance audit the output line by line?

  4. 04

Which of these four levels are you, and what is the evidence?
